TripAdvisor has launched a new owners’ center to help hotel owners manage and optimize their information on Tripadvisor. Each hotel (or restaurant, attraction, etc) will have access to tools and will receive email alerts of new reviews.
The first step is for owners register at TripAdvisor’s Owners area.
Once registered, owners and management can sign up for emails of new reviews, update their property listings, respond to reviews through management response tools and upload both videos and photos.
Some quick highlights are buttons you can put on your website that link back to your Tripadvisor page (which many hotels would object to).
There are also widgets that stream your reviews from Tripadvisor to your website. Apparently, the widget can be customized to include snippets of the most recent guest reviews, ratings and photos of the property or destination from TripAdvisor.

Travelers trust other travelers, so owners can benefit by displaying what they’re saying on their own websites. In a 2007 survey of 360 e-commerce companies, sites that added user reviews reported very positive results:
- 56% lifted conversion
- 77% raised traffic
- 42% increased the average shopping basket
These new tools sound like a good move on TripAdvisor’s part… many hotel owners feel helpless right now in the face of TripAdvisor.

This is pretty interesting and I see this feature providing two valuable services. One – It gives hotels a voice. There have been many times when I hare read customers complain about petty issues. This will allow the management to respond . Two – It will add better content to the site.
Yep it’s pretty cool the features tripadvisor is offering nowadays. It’s really simple to update details more than ever.
I think this will be a great tool for hotel management and will help improve the TripAdvisor experience on a user and management level. This will be important for owners to utilize.
This is great. At least hotels may now be watchful in every steps they make because of this advisory thing…Hotel owners should consider this a new way to promote their business and not to feel helpless :)
It’s about time too! This will make my life easier.
A quick survey of 50 hotels on our Merseyside Hotel directory website shows that none of them are taking advantage of this. A few have simple links to TripAdvisor but that’s all.
