Yahoo Search Marketing’s latest program has been created specifically for travel and hospitality industry marketers. Yahoo Travel Submit enables you to place your travel offers and promotions on Yahoo Travel and across Yahoo’s travel planning and research areas.

While this offers a way to “suggest” inclusion of information about your hotel or attraction in the Yahoo Travel directory, there is no guarantee that your website will be included. To find out more about the costs involved with submitting to the pay-per-click version of Yahoo Travel, go to http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/nl/feb06ts.php or contact your Blizzard Promotion Account Manager.

Yahoo Search was the biggest surprise for me this year. It averages less than 1/3 of the cost per keyword combination compared to Google and achieved a higher page rank so far this year. I still plan on using both, but it’s been a very nice surprise for my business this year. I’m not sure if it’s so strong because not as many people are using the service or because it’s new. Whatever the reason, it’s been a very solid producer for me this year.

One way to save on an avenue to get into Yahoo Travel is to list in two of its “Best of Breed” directories, which the Yahoo editors monitor for content. If the editors find a listing in 2 directories, they’ll include the property in Yahoo Travel. http://www.bbdirectory.com is one such directory. http://www.bedandbreakfast.com is another.
