Supporting Public PC Workstations for Hotels
Shawn Thomas, President & CEO, Uniguest

Hotels that offer complimentary computer workstations for guests in the lobby or a separate business center find it nearly impossible to prevent users from making modifications to the computers that create havoc for other users and hotel staff.  Nashville-based Uniguest solves these problems.

Uniguest is a service company that specializes in security software for automated public PC workstations in hotels.  The company’s primary focus is on assisting hotels with the management and ongoing support for these stations.  Service is provided in two ways.  Uniguest is the first provider in the industry to take a proactive role by remotely cleaning up each client property’s public PC’s viruses, spyware, adware and other malicious software.  In this phase, Uniguest also installs security software to provide many useful features and benefits, the most recognizable being preventing users from modifying the PC during use, deleting any Internet files or documents from each user session, and accessing mature content.  The second part of Uniquest’s service comes into play when one of the PC’s fails, which we all know happens from time to time.  Uniguest backs up its software with a full service support contract.  The support contract provides help desk support, remote login abilities, and even hardware swaps.

More and more hotels are switching from charging for computer use to providing the service free to guest.  Since 2003, Uniguest has helped to reshape the hotel industry by assisting hotels that provide PC workstations as a complimentary amenity.  Please visit the company’s website at www.uniguest.com for more information.
