A recent article at Hotel Online sets forth the top issues that the hospitality industry may be facing in 2007. The International Society of Hospitality Consultants gathered for a conference in Miami recently to participate in a series of roundtable discussions to identify what could possibly be the top ten issues for 2007.

Here are the potential problems:

  1. Labor & Skills Shortages
  2. Construction Costs
  3. Technology
  4. Changing Demographics & Their Impact on Travel Trends
  5. Future of Hotel Profits
  6. Branding
  7. Distribution Revolution
  8. Travel Restrictions
  9. Global Emerging Markets
  10. Capital Availability

The article cited above discusses each of the above points more in depth and sets forth ideas for dealing with these potential problems. This year the debate included in-depth discussions on over 100 different issues with 27 making the ballot for the final vote by the members.
