A recent article at Hotel Interactive by Francine Cohen discusses the positive growth in the lodging business. Industry growth is on the rise with an excellent outlook for the next few years. Leisure travel has been the main stimulus behind this change while the consumers are driving the rise in demand for value and mid-level brands on a domestic level.
This expansion is not indicating a halt anytime soon, yet will most likely not continue at the same rate. The industy is continually selling 1.49% more rooms each day than the year before and ADRs are on the rise. 2006 was also a strong year for hotel profits. The economy is holding strong and the lodging industry should continue to reap the benefit.
