Mary, Trent and I are here at SES Travel - hard at work learning more about how to help our travel clients make the most out of their marketing dollars.

We attended a few sessions, I moderated one and presented at another. The gold star session of the day was one on Designing for the Senses and Search. This panel was moderated by Todd Sarouhan at GoVisitCostaRica.com and EMarketingTalkShow.com. Panelists were Mark Jackson of Vizion Interactive and Matt Bailey from Site Logic Marketing. They gave some really solid and sound advice for building a new website or redesigning your existing site. Start with advice from your SEO! Dont expect to hand your Search Engine Marketer a completed website and have it rank immediately. Start the process defining your goals, your keyword targets and form your pages based on what will bring traffic. Don’t build out pages just because your web developer said to, and expect them to convert for you. Instead, consult an SEO Expert and hand your web developer/designer a list of URLs you want to use, content for those pages, and a firm sense of the direction for the site. If you have existing URLs in a site design - dont change them.

They also touched upon w3c compliance, some ada compliance issues and making sure your site will “work” even if java is turned off. I really enjoyed the speakers and I felt they had a lot of relevant information to deliver.

I moderated a forum on keyword research with Jorie Hutchings from I-Crossing and Christine Churchill from KeyRelevance. Some great information here and a lot of good questions from the audience.

My talk on PPC for small budget success was really good. I’ll deliver the slides from my presentation as soon as I’m sure it’s okay to do that, not sure what the rules are.

On a personal note - this is my first trip to Seattle, it’s really a fun and interesting city with great food, spectacular views, and a great vibe. We have some great pictures, but both forgot our download cords, so we will share those here and on the Travel Blog when we get back home.
