Property Managers - Contain Yourselves!

I was at a conference when a subject was brought up that I had never given any thought to. The idea was very intriguing to me as I could see the benefits it would yield to property management companies.

OraCode Lock

Imagine never having to leave the comfort of your own home to make sure all your clients, maintenance workers, cleaning crews, owners, and so forth can get into their designated property when they need. Kaba locks makes this possible.

How it works:
1. Purchase a lock for the door (battery operated)
2. Put the lock on the door (3 very small holes)
3. Activate the lock (with a palm or something similar ONLY ONCE)
4. DONE!

You then log onto the Internet from anywhere in the world and can program in people that need access. This lock allows access with time sensitive codes.

  • Codes can be generated ahead of time through a highly secure server
  • You can give access days or years in advance
  • You have a virtual finger print of anyone that walks through the door
  • Codes automatically deactivate when specified
  • Guests don’t have to pick up or drop off keys
  • Renters can change the code to a simple number if they wish
  • You can monitor cleaning crews and maintenance workers better
  • There is NO software to install!

With this system you save time, you keep track of your owners, workers, and guests, and have a safer and more secure lock system. I think the idea is brilliant!
Often vacation homes are far from the property management building. With the ever increasing demand for convenience, this system enables guests to enjoy more of their vacation. It also frees up property management companies time to do other important tasks like Internet Marketing.

I have seen these locks too, and was impressed. The seem like a slam-dunk to a property manager. As a traveller, I am weary of hotel cards that die if they get close to my cell-phone. I always get and carry two, because invariably one will stop working (apparently cell phones and credit cards kill hotel key-cards.).
