At one time or another, most of us have landed on a website that infected our computer with evil adware or spyware, causing one ad after another to pop up, embedding unwanted programs into the hard drive… or worse. The consequences are always frustrating and can be time-consuming and costly to fix. The best defense is to install, update and regularly run a good anti-spyware program.
Now, Google has stepped up with another tool to aid in the battle against spammers. They are going to warn us if we click on a link that goes to “carrier” sites - those known to harbor malicious programs, also known as “badware“. Read more about it in this article on the BBC News website.

I have two chiildren who are allowed to use the internet when an adult is present. No matter how careful we try to be, the sites that they go to leave all kinds of cookies and java script on our hard drive. We are constatly having to clean our computer. Several times we have received a worm or worse a full blown virus. It took days to clean up one of the viruses and get back on track.
Thank you Mary for pointing this valuable information out to all of us.
