Using a survey of traveler perspectives and online behavioral analysis, Google and Compete have shared some data showing how people are shopping online for travel in today’s economy.

In a January 14th Webinar, they reported a sharp and sudden 30% decline in November 08.

    It’s only going to get worse I think. I don’t think a lot of travel related businesses will last the winter and spring won’t be much better if the unemployment rates keep going up.

    I agree with Talen, economy is only going to get worse, I have surveyed people I know who usually take 1-2 trips per year and they are definitely cutting down to 1 and/or cutting down the length of stay and money spent.

    There is just too much uncertainty in the markets and the dow just hit a new low today.
