Design Case Study - Spa at Harbour Inn
Ken Kralick, Design Department Manager - Blizzard Internet Marketing
This month, we look at a new website design project for a spa within a hotel property. Promotion of the property has not yet started.
The majority of the clients visit the spa website via links from the parent hotel, their association, and a popular index of spa properties (www.SpaIndex.com). The new design has proved so effective, and is such a leap forward from the hotel website, that many clients are now identifying with the new website as a new entity and something of a new business. They appear to have difficulty recognizing that the two properties are tied together.
It is difficult to read too far into the limited statistics and traffic to a brand-new website such as this, but an informal poll of roughly 400 guests showed that nearly 25% of them had heard about the spa online. Nearly 100 new guests can be specifically tied to a website that went live on 8/24/04!
Packages, specials and spa information are prominent in the navigation. Blizzard has found that these pages are of paramount importance to any luxury-service website, and the Spa at Harbour Inn site is loaded with enticing descriptions of most services provided. With any story, a picture is worth a thousand words and our client was able to provide us with quality pictures that really show the spa experience.
Lynsey Roper, Spa Director, is very happy with the results, "The Spa website really captures what the Spa is like. By sending you the logo, colors and photos, you really did the Spa an incredible justice."
Lynsey goes on to say, "I love the website, I give the URL out all the time with incredible confidence that the website is good looking and very truthful."
