What are “Green” Hotels? Green Hotels are environmentally friendly hotels that usually implement several different programs to conserve resources such as energy and water. These programs save money for hoteliers and help protect natural resources.
Many Green businesses have yet to promote their energy saving efforts, due to opinions that guests may not care, or at the very least are not concerned enough for it to affect their decision making process when booking lodging. Some are even worried that being “Green” will make guests think that the property is less sanitary. The general reaction from guests seems to be quite the opposite, however. Green hotels have a small, very loyal niche market, but a larger portion of the general public is starting to take notice and give their support to these properties.
Villas by the Sea is one of the many hotels leading the Green trend. A ways they are helping the Green movement include:
o Beaches are available only at low tide. Villas by the Sea is separated from the beach by a natural Dune Line with rocks in front of the dunes, helping to prevent unnecessary erosion of this historic island.
o Full maid service provided on 3rd night of stay. This helps with water conservation and energy efficiency, which helps conserve non-renewable resources and keep energy costs down.
o Participation in Green Program. Villas by the Sea is a member of The Green Hotels Association which acknowledges the resort’s efforts in energy and environmental conservation.
o Non-disposable Service Items. Villas by the Sea furnishes all units with real dishes and utensils, eliminating the unnecessary waste that is associated with disposable service items.
o Towel Re-use Program. Guests are encouraged to use towels more than once before having them laundered. This saves water, energy, and wear and tear on the linens.
o Water Conservation. Villas by the Sea uses many forms of water conservation, including washing linens less frequently and allowing the natural landscape of the island to flourish rather than grooming lawns and gardens.
With the growing popularity of the Internet, it is becoming much easier for Green hotels and their supportive guests connect with each other. Visit www.greenhotels.com to find out how you can do your part to conserve resources and energy.

i have been noticing more hotels deploying these measures. Especially towels reuse and maid service.
