“Live from New York, It’s Saturday Night!”

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Ok, so we don’t usually work on Saturdays, and we’re not based in New York, but we are Live. Blizzard Internet Marketing has kicked off a new service called Blizzard Live (”Blizz Live” for short), capturing the live social marketing integration of the internet.

By now, most of our readers have heard of Web 2.0. Trent Blizzard, CEO of Blizzard Internet, discusses the concept in all of his current speaking engagements. The lucky few who take the opportunity to listen to his brilliant gab walk away with a clearer understanding of the online resources that are the products of this trend. The rest of you may still be trying to grasp what a definition of Web 2.0 really is; be patient with yourself. Most have to hear it nine times before we get the smallest bit of understanding and twenty seven times before we can believe or fully comprehend it. Six Video Sharing Web Sites

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

More and more travel and tourism businesses are creating videos to sell their products. For hotels and resorts, videos are becoming more appealing than virtual tours. (But nothing beats good flat photography). Compelling videos can help increase the conversion rates of your website. We like videos because they are easy to “embed” into a website, they increase conversion rates, and they create additional promotion opportunities. Sharing your video with the world will result in hundreds and thousands of “views” over time.

The rise in video sharing websites in the last year is remarkable. Videoblogs and Videoblogging is becoming popular. Youtube, the most popular video sharing website, is now one of the top 10 visited websites in the United States. Even if you aren’t uploading your own video, you should spend a few hours searching for your area, town or business name… the odds are increasingly good that someone has already uploaded and shared a video that is about you! Plus, they have and endless supply of hilarious, inspirational and educational videos for your amusement.

Trip Advisor Logo

Trip Advisor has yet again updated their site, recently adding a new travel wiki, Trip Advisor Inside, to their already long list of online travel resources. Users can now read, contribute to, and edit articles on thousands of destinations throughout the world.

How does Trip Advisor Inside work?

1. A traveler begins a topic, such as “Things to do when visiting Colorado”.

2. Another person who has also visited the area can add to the article based on his or her experiences.

3. More people read the article and then edit that article based upon their experiences.

4. Someone else will happen upon the article and possibly fix typos or spelling errors.

5. People continue to add to and edit the article until you have a collective, informative collaboration based on the opinions and experiences of other travelers with the same interests.
