If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

According to TIME Magazine’s January 2007 edition, “Users upload 65,000 new videos to the site (YouTube.com) every day. A year ago, they watched 10 million videos a day; now they watch 100 million.” These numbers demonstrate how effective video sharing sites have become.

Websites such as YouTube, Google Video, Buzz Net, Vimeo, and Grouper are all dedicated to distributing videos on the Internet. These sites are growing in content each day as well as visitors, which makes them very powerful! Advertisers are beginning to see great results with such sites and just how productive they can be. Most video sharing sites are easy to use, quick, and more importantly, FREE!

One of the best ways to find information for a trip to a particular destination is to ask a local or to find someone who has been there before. The Super Bowl and User Generated Content

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

Looking at the title of my post and wondering how the two could possibly be connected? The makers of Doritos, PepsiCo, have opened up their Super Bowl advertising campaign to the public. Just how is this all tied together?

Every year, advertisers spend millions on Super Bowl advertising spots. These coveted advertising times do not come cheap. What better way to save on advertising than to have your consumer create your ads. Doritos asked their consumers to create an advertisement and submit it for review between October 2 and December 1 of last year for consideration.

What is a Blog?

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Yes, you are reading a blog. However, there are still  people out there that don’t know what a blog is or understand the uses of one. Blogging goes hand in hand with our current concentration on Web 2.0 and it’s implications for online marketing.

A Weblog or Blog is basically an online journal. It is generally concentrated on one topic per forum. The topics range widely from travel, politics, music or sports to family news. An example would be this Blog about Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Check out Google’s top ten search phrases for the year 2006:

  1. bebo
  2. myspace
  3. world cup
  4. metacafe
  5. radioblog
  6. wikipedia
  7. video
  8. rebelde
  9. mininova
  10. wiki

What’s the common thread here? For starters, “bebo”, “myspace”, “metacafe”, “radioblog”, “wikipedia”, “mininova”, and “wiki” are all apart of the new generation of internet services, or what O’Reilly Media phrases as “Web 2.0“. Each of the above websites is known for effectively sharing and communicating information between users. Web 2.0 is all about becoming “social” online. It’s a collaboration of distributing just about anything you can think of …videos, music, articles, journals, critiques, advice, podcasts, blogs, and reviews to name just a few.

WEB 2.0 Comes of Age

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2006 is you!

Web 2.0 has come squarely into the sights of the mainstream media. Bits and pieces of this brave new web world have been in place for several years. However, several powerful factors have converged to make the social internet a welcomed guest in American homes and businesses:

The Widespread Adoption of Broadband

The greatly increased availability of broadband service, along with its decreasing cost, has brought high-speed internet into millions of homes and businesses. The FTC reports that in 2005 broadband service increased by 33% and went to over 50 million homes and businesses. The statistics for 2006 have not yet been released. This speed upgrade makes it possible and practical to upload, download and stream, allowing millions to become internet power-users and participate in the many exciting new web platforms.

Voice 2.0

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

There’s been a lot of chatter over this emerging technology over the last year but, what you may ask is Voice 2.0? Some of it is all “talk” and some are real world applications of the convergence of the internet and the telephone. In a nutshell, Voice 2.0 is a group of services used to transmit voice, data, instant messages and video using an Internet Protocol at any time from anywhere. This technology poses a potential threat to the telecom businesses as the users, rather than providers, will be in charge of how they communicate whom with and when. The best part is that this could provide huge savings and greater efficiencies.
