If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

A key area to creating a user friendly site is making your site compliant for the disabled and functional limitations. The Internet has become a useful tool for handicapped customers. For example, a person who stutters may want to purchase online rather than deal with speaking with someone, or a person with walking limitations may want to make purchases from one simple click rather than walking through a store.

Of course, there are many more limitations to consider such as the visibly and hearing impaired, color blindness, cognitive disabilities, and those prone to epileptic seizures.

Extreme Website Makeover

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Historic Key West Inns of Key West, Florida, is a recent client addition to Blizzard Internet Marketing, Inc. They have a unique collection of six small hotels located in the “Old Town” section of Key West with accommodations ranging from modest to luxurious. Previously this client had a fairly new Flash website design, but it was not producing the desired results. After partnering with Blizzard on a Comprehensive Plan, research determined that a new site should be developed to increase search engine performance and online conversions. The property supplied new professional photos for the website to convey the true essence of the area and properties. Blizzard’s design team enhanced the usability of the site and added additional pages with information about the area and activities.

New Website Design for ABEC Resorts

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

ABEC Resorts of Destin, Florida is a fairly new client at Blizzard Internet. They came to us looking for a complete Website Promotion package with our Comprehensive Solutions plan. To help promote their site, an overhaul of their website was completed.

ABEC Resorts Homepage

Alan Collins of the Design Department was the creator of the site and the promotion team is headed by Mindi Cabe. The team worked with those at the resort to publish the updated website about two weeks ago. The new site will give each of three resorts and a real estate company their own free standing website. Information regarding each resort is very straight forward and more organized. This new layout is much more attractive and will help visitors find exactly what they are looking for.

Hypertext

Generally, any text that contains links to other documents. Words or phrases which are contained in a document that can be chosen by a reader which will cause another document to be retrieved and displayed.

HyperText Markup Language (HTML)

A programming language usually used to create World Wide Web documents incorporating text, graphics, sound, video, and hyperlinks. It provides a means to describe the structure of text-based information in a document and to supplement that text with interactive forms, embedded images, and other objects.

HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

The protocol, or format, used by the World Wide Web for moving files across the Internet. HTTP defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands. Most website addresses begin with http, however those on a secure server will begin with https.

XML - A Brief Explanation

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

In a very general sense, XML is a way of describing data contained within a document. The abbreviation stands for Extensible Markup Language. XML is a recommended markup language, or a combination of text and information about the text, for creating special-purpose markup languages to be used to describe many different kinds of data. The primary purpose is to facilitate the sharing of data across different systems, especially those systems which are connected via the Internet such as blogs.
