Recently, several of our clients have called us with questions regarding an e-mail problem they were experiencing with AOL and/or Comcast. The problem is one (or both) of the following:

1. Blizzard Internet Marketing forwards their e-mail to their AOL or Comcast address (example - Joe at Joe’s Bed and Breakfast wants e-mail sent to joe@JoesBnB.com to be forwarded to JoesBnB@aol.com) and the client does not receive it. These e-mails bounce back to the sender as undeliverable because of “spam content”.
2. E-mail our clients are sending to AOL or Comcast e-mail addresses were blocked and returned as undeliverable because of spam content.

Saturday, November 18, 2006 - Pre-scheduled Data Center Maintenance Outage Notification

It’s been another busy year at Blizzard Internet Marketing and we thank all of you for making this another special year of growth and opportunity! At Blizzard, we are constantly striving to proactively and consciously improve our overall hosting package and this year is no different.

On Saturday, November 18th from 4 AM to 4 PM EST our datacenter will be performing extensive network optimization and maintenance in order to continue improving our ability to provide our hosting clients with a fast, reliable, and secure environment. While we expect any potential service interruptions to be very minimal, there is a potential for temporary interruptions during the course of the upgrades and reconfigurations.

We have done our very best to schedule these upgrades in an extremely isolated maintenance window that will stay open throughout the 18th, but if you have any questions or concerns whatsoever, please feel free to contact us at support@blizzardinternet.com.

I have recently been asked the question “Now that I have an external anti-virus/anti-spam filter like Postini, can I get rid of my Norton Anti-Virus subscription?” The short answer is NO. So, you just got yourself a brand new web site.  All the bugs have been worked out and your site is ready to go live.  After its launch, search engines start spidering your site, people are reading its content and, unfortunately, spammers are getting your e-mail address!

Spam, the Junk mail of the cyber world, is generated by programs called spambots.  Spambots are programs designed to capture e-mail addresses from web sites, blogs, newsgroups and chat room postings.  After your e-mail address is captured, it is added to a mailing list.  From then on, it’s spam city.
