E-Commerce Success Story

Many Blizzard customers have a need for their websites to allow for e-commerce, which is simply the ability for your visitors to purchase online.  Starting an online store is easier than you think, and can be a great way to increase revenue even if you are only planning to sell one or two products.  Down Factory Store, located in East Hampton, NY provides high quality pillows, comforters, featherbeds and blankets that can be purchased directly from their website www.downfactorystore.com.

In order to provide a robust, scalable shopping cart for Down Factory Store, Blizzard partnered with Miva Corporation, a supplier of e-commerce software and services for small and medium-sized businesses.  Blizzard created an online storefront for Down Factory Store using Miva Merchant e-commerce software.  The shopping cart was customized to be consistent with the existing Down Factory Store website, which was designed, hosted and promoted by Blizzard.

Online shoppers can use major credit cards to purchase Down Factory Store bedding over a secure connection hosted on Blizzard’s Secure Server.  The shopping cart automatically sends an email to Down Factory Store after each order is placed to alert them that there is a new online order to process.

Down Factory Store has a user name and password used to securely log into their shopping cart from anywhere in the world and retrieve order information.  Some of the stored order information includes:
Product(s) ordered

Special size or color options chosen by customer
Payment contact information
Credit card information
Shipping name and address

Order information is archived and stored within the shopping cart database, allowing the storeowner to review past orders and save customer contact information for future marketing campaigns.

Credit card payment processing can be handled by the shopping cart at the time of purchase by a third party “payment gateway” that deposits the money into your account for a small fee.  Instead of using an online payment gateway, Down Factory Store uses their credit card machine to process their payments offline.

Down Factory Store has been successfully using their Miva Merchant shopping cart for twelve months, and currently receives online orders almost daily.
