Blizzard Tracker as an accountability tool
Christine Burke, Blizzard Internet Marketing, Inc.

If you need a good reason to look at your website statistics more often, think of your tracker as an accountability tool.  Here are some of the questions that the tracker can help answer:

Are my paid resources, such as directories and PPC’s, really sending me the number of visitors that they claim to send?
Has my snazzy new website design reduced my bounce rate, increased usability, and increased conversions?
Is it friendly to search engines?

My marketing people are giving me all kinds of statistics about my website.  Can I verify the data in their reports?

These and many other questions can be answered when you take the time to become familiar with your tracking reports.  In addition, the more familiar you are with normal activity on your site, the easier it will be to identify abnormal activity, such as an important page being broken, or even click fraud.  Click fraud is a complex subject, and the most sophisticated perpetrators are good at covering their tracks.  Nevertheless, the experts say that understanding what’s normal on your site can be the first step in spotting click fraud.  For more information, see Trent Blizzard’s article in last month’s newsletter.
