Today’s Plugged-In will spotlight our Director of Marketing services and the poor soul charged with organizing our rag-tag softball team, appropriately named “Shenanigains.”
Your Name: Russell Cabe
Your Title with Blizzard: Director of Marketing Services
How long have you worked for Blizzard? Almost 6 years
Are there any stories about your interview or first weeks here that you’d like to share?
Only that Trent (Owner & CEO) and Heather (COO) were my interviewers. It was the early days.
What aspect of your job keeps you coming to work every day?
The aspect I like most about my job is putting people in a position to succeed. It may be leftover residue from my father who used to coach football, but I really enjoy putting the parts together into a whole and creating a team where people can best use their talents and interests. That and the fact that I get to laugh at work with some really smart
and humorous people.
If you could meet 1 person in the world (present, past or future) who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln hands down! That has been my answer to this question for almost as long as I can remember. I have always been fascinated by so many aspects of his leadership, but a couple of the main points would be that he wasn’t afraid to surround himself with people who he didn’t always agree with if he thought it would help him make smarter decisions. I also like that he was able to overcome his own shortcomings and conflicts of his own ideas for something bigger. I respect that he didn’t have to lead out of fear, he was smarter than that.

Favorite Neil Diamond Song? “Cherry, Cherry”
The fact that Russ even HAS a favorite Neil Diamond song terrifies me - hopefully he’s singing this in his head all day long…
Baby loves me, yes, yes she does
Ah, the girl’s outta sight, yeah
Says she loves me, yes, yes she does
Mmm, gonna show me tonight, yeahHey, she got the way to move me,
Cherry
(She got the way to groove me)
Cherry, baby
She got the way to move me
(She got the way to groove me)
All right…
Okay - now it’s stuck in my head - thanks a LOT!

In my own defense, it’s not as if I own any Neil Diamond CD’s or anything, but come on. Cherry, Cherry is a classic. Go ahead and in the privacy of your own home where no one can see or hear you, get on one of the internet stations and play that song. You’ll be snapping your fingers before you know what hit you.
