Blizzard Offers Customized Mapping for Websites
Danielle Rozga | 30 April 2007 |
In Carrie Hill’s article, “Top 5 Reasons You NEED Maps on Your Travel Website“, she discusses the importance of offering maps to help drive website visitors to make a booking on your site.
Why put a map on your site? The top five reasons, from Carrie’s article, include:
- Give your guests the exact locations of your property in relation to local activities, restaurants, landmarks, etc.
- If you have multiple units (i.e. condo or vacation homes), you can put them all onto one map that guests can use to easily decide exactly what unit they want to book.
- Get a jump on your competition.
- Allow guests to easily get driving directions from one location to another.
- Take advantage of one of the newest internet trends.
Since the publication of that article, mapping has become even more advanced. Now, you can have a custom-built map embedded on your site to integrate seamlessly with the existing pages. You can add multiple optimized photos to each location marker, link to pages on your site from within individual marker descriptions, and even link from a page on your site to a specific marker on your maps page. In addition to integrating the map on your website, you can also easily export it to Google Earth.
Blizzard Internet Marketing is now offering a new mapping service to our clients using the technology of CommunityWalk.
With it, we can build a variety of custom maps to implement on your site. Here are a few exampes of ones we’ve completed recently:
- Activities: Mendocino Beaches Map
- Restaurant/Shopping Information: Emerald Isle, NC Area Map
- Lodging Property Locations: Winter Park Colorado Lodging Map
If you would like to enhance your site with custom mapping, please contact your account manager or e-mail Blizzard’s Business Development Department (businessdevelopment@blizzardinternet.com) today. If you are not currently a Blizzard Internet Marketing client and would like to be one, contact us at 888-840-5893 or fill out a Request for Proposal form today.

We have quite an elaborate Community Walk map at http://www.skaneatelessuites.com/dockside-vacation-rentals/ and then to http://www.communitywalk.com/skaneateles_suites/skaneateles_suites_collection_of_places_to_stay/map/108391.
I notice above says you can export to Google maps. How and why do I want to do that?

Hi Curt,
When you export your marker points from your Community Walk map to Google Earth, this is just one more way for you to get your info out there. When you are searching in Google Earth, you can see various “overlays” (or what would be your marker points) that Google Earth community members have created in different areas of the world. It is a great tool to view, create and share location information.
Also, Google Maps are now often displaying user-created content pulled from the files that are being posted to various locations in Google Earth.
There is an option on your community walk map to export the info to Google Earth.
