The effectiveness of any sort of marketing is always difficult to analyze. Even with advanced site trackers and extensive reporting, there are always elements that go unmeasured. For Blizzard, phone calls originating from our client’s websites have been one of those elements. Market analysis tells us that 75% of reservations are still made over the telephone rather than online. How many of those telephone calls are made due to an interest generated online? For any person or business, particularly those in the travel and tourism industry, wanting to evaluate their online marketing efforts, this is an important question to consider.
In an effort to further prove the effectiveness of Blizzard’s services, we have developed “Blizzard Call Tracking.” The concept is simple, and the information is both valuable and convincing. Here’s how it works. Blizzard provides a unique toll-free number to be posted on your lodging website. This number forwards to a local number, and then each call is tracked. So long as this toll-free number is used only on the website, you can assume that any tracked call and resulting business originated fromthe site.
Blizzard Call Tracking provides:

- Weekly and/or monthly reports offering caller ID information with names, addresses, and the telephone numbers of prospective customers. You can see who they are, where they are calling from, and how long the each conversation lasted.
- Call recording allows you to monitor the effectiveness of your front desk and to refer back to important calls.
- Caller demographics offers an insight into your target market to help you identify opportunities for improvement.
- Missed call leads gives you a second chance to contact potential customers. A “whisper” message at the beginning or end of tracked calls informs you that the call was generated via your website. This becomes a regular assurance that your internet marketing dollars are generating business.
The clients using Blizzard Call Tracking have all found astounding results. For many, thousands of calls and tens of thousands of minutes are tracked on a monthly basis. When you see such extraordinary numbers, the value of both internet marketing and an effective, attractive website become unquestionable. This has become among the best marketing tools for any hospitality or travel and tourism business.
Please note that while Blizzard Call Tracking is currently available only to our comprehensive promotion clients, we will be expanding it’s availability in the future.

I am really quite excited by this new service. Many of our clients don’t know how many of their phone calls are generated by their website, and this lets us show them the huge ROI they get from our web-marketing efforts.
I wish we had done this years ago. I think it is beneficial for a client, even if they try it for 6 months to get a better sense of online-lookers that become phone-callers.
It can also help to determine how many calls are going unanswered either off-hours or during business hours, and even why sales aren’t being closed.

This type of analytics should be a great way to identify problems, poor performers & common issues. Ideal to help train your staff.
