Trip Advisor has yet again updated their site, recently adding a new travel wiki, Trip Advisor Inside, to their already long list of online travel resources. Users can now read, contribute to, and edit articles on thousands of destinations throughout the world.

How does Trip Advisor Inside work?

1. A traveler begins a topic, such as “Things to do when visiting Colorado”.

2. Another person who has also visited the area can add to the article based on his or her experiences.

3. More people read the article and then edit that article based upon their experiences.

4. Someone else will happen upon the article and possibly fix typos or spelling errors.

5. People continue to add to and edit the article until you have a collective, informative collaboration based on the opinions and experiences of other travelers with the same interests.

Trip Advisor Inside

The possibilities for Trip Advisor Inside topics are endless. You can write about where you live, where you’ve been, great restaurants, ski resorts, your favorite hotel, even the airports you’ve been to. For hotel managers and property owners -why not start an article based on the area where your property is located? This excellent publicity is completely free!

Previous Blizzard Newsletter articles have addressed the rapidly growing influence that Trip Advisor has on a traveler’s decision making process, and adding a wiki is only strengthening Trip Advisor’s authority status within the travel community. Trip Advisor’s growing popularity is due, in part, to the fact that articles, GoLists, and reviews are all posted by real travelers who have much more credibility amongst their peer group than a travel journalist does or even AAA would have with them.

If you need help writing a Trip Advisor Inside page, contact your Promotion Account Manager; he or she would be happy to set one up for you. Worried about the page not being interesting enough? Remember that if it is interesting to you, it is interesting to others… it’ll be a great topic!

I just finished a long blog about Tips and Techniques for using Trip Advisor listings to promote your bed and breakfast inn. Trip Advisor users should consider reading it to.

Just a warning. We have been using tripadvisor for years and it really works. But, be careful about writing your own reviews. Actually, don’t do it. Even setting up fake email accounts is risky business, since they have very sophisticated ways to determine who you really are.

Ask friends and family if you need a “jump start”. But the best way is slow and painful; ask every Happy Guest to write one. Then don’t be disapointed when they don’t. Oh, and by the way: Never offer a “bribe” to Guests for a review.

i would like to know why comments by name of crooky on the doga hotel are put on the webb site straight away, and other comments put on the same time do not go on, pls could you advise why this is, there are other comments which do not agree with others and people are entilted to see what other people think of the hotel. i have put comments on lasy yr as well and these havent been put on either, it looks like you only put comments on that you think are ok.

  4. Host Says:

    Hi Murray,

We do not work for, control or even manage reviews on tripadvisor. We simply report on features. If you’re having issues getting your reviews posted, I suggest contacting Tripadvisor directly at their Help Center
