Airport Parking Solution

Trent Blizzard | 28 February 2007 |

As a frequent airline traveler, I find that parking at airports is a frustrating experience. In the past five years, I have repeatedly shown up at an airport only to find the parking lots full (I have, in fact, had this experience at five different airports!) Of course, time was tight and my blood pressure soared as I tried to find alternative parking near the airport.

Park Ride Fly

I have only recently found a great solution at ParkRideFlyUSA which lets me reserve an off-site parking space, at a very nice parking lot. They sent me a map to get to the lot, and once I arrived, they whisked me off to the airport on a courtesy shuttle. It really was a pretty good experience. CERTAINLY much better than the last time I flew and arrived to find both Denver (DIA) short-term lots full, then going to the Pikes Peak long-term lot and spending an extra hour parking and shuttling.
My new strategy is to reserve my parking ahead of time - I feel confident that I will make my flight and my car will be safe. Now, you may be asking why is Trent talking about this in his online marketing newsletter blog. It’s because I think that there is a revenue opportunity for hotels and resorts — a way to make a bit of extra money from your website and your reservation software.

I poked around a bit and found that ParkRideFly has a nice affiliate program; if your guests go to the company’s website and book, you make money too! How would you present this option for guests? I recommend adding an invitation to your reservation confirmation. Simply invite them to reserve their airport parking when making a reservation. This idea plays into the larger trend of hotels and resorts offering concierge services that go beyond pointing guests to a good restaurant.

The benefits for your guests:

  • Guaranteed airport parking reservations
  • Short-term or long-term parking
  • Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • Self-park and valet, depending on location
  • Save time, energy, money and worry
  • Secure and well-lit, fenced-in lots
  • 24-hour surveillance
  • Best available discounted airport parking rates
  • No airport parking reservation fees
  • Baggage handling services
  • No walking - through rain or shine, heat or cold
  • Complimentary, comfortable shuttles
  • Quick and convenient
  • Curb-to-curb service
  • Friendly and courteous staff
  • Earn rewards toward free days
  • Accessible parking and VIP service

ParkFlyRide banner sampleIt’s easy to start offering ParkRidefly’s services to website visitors. I signed up as an affiliate, and received a very clear, detailed e-mail outlining how to get going. First, you select to add a text link or one of an assortment of banner images, like the one at left, to direct visitors to ParkRideFly USA’s website for booking. Then, you just need to have your webmaster add a very short line of code to your site as well as the link you’ve selected. That’s it! Your affiliate number is included in the code, so ParkRideFly knows whom to send the referral checks to.

I am grateful to find a solution that reduces some of the stress of flying. The benefits of ParkRideFly USA’s services far outweigh any concerns I have about not parking on-site. You can feel comfortable recommending this company to your guests while you generate some revenue in the process.

I, too, think this is a great solution to the daunting task of airport parking. It’s reasonably priced, your vehicle is secured and the shuttles run like clockwork. The lots are usually away from the airport traffic pattern, so you don’t have to deal with driving congestion. At DIA, you avoid paying the toll, as well. But the best part is you don’t have to stress over where you’re going to park and if you’ll make your check in time. Try it!

I have been using this type of shuttle service for a few years now and find it MUCH less stressful. Most recently, I flew out of DIA after they had been hit with two major snowstorms. The shuttle drivers carried my bags out of my car since there was still some snow in-between cars. They are always efficient. Upon returning, I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes for the shuttle service to pick me up. I feel safer getting to my car at night in a well-lit parking lot that has security.

This would be a terrific service to offer your guests and business associates who will keep referrals coming to you.
